American rapper, singer, and actress Eve was born Eve Jihan Jeffers in Philadelphia in 1978. She got her break when she recorded the track "Eve of Destruction", for the film Bulworth. This led to work with artists including DMX and Janet Jackson and prepared the ground for the releases of her debut album. Let There Be Eve...Ruff Ryders' First Lady featured collaborations with Missy Elliot and Beanie Sigel and debuted at the top spot of the Billboard 200. It has gone on to double-platinum status.
The follow-up Scorpion, with contributions from Dr. Dre, also went platinum and the single "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" with Gwen Stefani earned them the Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. After the gold-selling third album Eve-Olution, Eve worked with other artists, returning the favour for Gwen Stefani on her No.1 single "Rich Girl", and the Amerie track "1 Thing" from the film Hitch. Eve is currently in the studio working on an album due for release in 2008.
