Faith No More is an avant garde metal band. FNM had a series of lead singers, including, for a very brief time Courtney Love, however their most famous frontman was the prolific, experimental and eccentric Mr. Bungle frontman, Mike Patton.
FNM released their first full length album, We Care A Lot, in 1985, from which came their first charting single "We Care A Lot" -- a satire of the charity "rock" projects so prevalent in the 80s like Live Aid, Farm Aid and We Are The World. It was in 1989 with the release of their most critically acclaimed, and breakthrough album, The Real Thing (TRT) that they found wider fame. TRT spawned two of FNM's biggest hit singles, "Epic" and "Falling To Pieces" and proved to be the most commercially successful album for the band.
It was on Faith No More's fourth album, Angel Dust, released in 1992, that Mike Patton's eclectic musical ideas and his propensity for musical experimentation became a true influence for the band. It is widely considered to be FNM's seminal album and was much more experimental than TRT had been. And although Angel Dust was a critical success it didn't see the commercial success that TRT did.
Two albums and six years later saw the break up of FNM. In 1998 after 15 years together the band decided it was time to go their separate ways, in an amicable parting to allow members to move on to other projects.
The band reunited in 2009 for a tour ending in December 2010.
