Fall Out Boy are a pop punk band from Wilmette, Illinois, best known for their single "This ain't a Scene, it's an Arms Race", from the platinum-selling Infinity On High album.
Fall Out Boy were formed in 2001 by guitarist Joe Trohman and bass player and vocalist Pete Wentz. The band honed their style on early releases, including Fall Out Boy's Evening Out with Your Girl and the Sean O'Keefe produced Take This to Your Grave, which helped build their cult following. They broke into the Billboard Top 200, for the first time, with the acoustic EP My Heart Will Always Be on the B-Side to my Tongue, which helped pave the way for their next album. Major sales came from From Under the Cork Tree which was released in 2005 and went into the Billboard 200 in the Top 10. The album, helped by the success of the singles "Sugar we are Going Down" and "Dance, Dance", achieved double platinum status and earned the band a string of awards. Following this they went on to headline a series of major tours of the US, Canada, and the UK, joining other bands including Motion City Soundtrack and Panic! At The Disco.
Infinity On High was released in 2007, and went to No.1 in the Billboard Hot 200 on the first week of issue. They also got to No.2 in the UK singles charts with "This ain't a Scene, it's an Arms Race", a remix of which was produced by Kanye West.
