Fats Waller (May 21, 1904 - December 15, 1943) born Thomas Wright Waller was a jazz pianist, organist, composer and comedic entertainer. He was the youngest of four children born to Adaline Locket Waller, wife of the Reverend Edward Martin Waller.

  • The amount of trivia about Fats Waller is as large as the man himself. Harry Connick,jr. commented on The speed and huge hand-span Fats had and the futility of ever trying to match that, Johnny laughing agreed. Fats had others record vocals at first, later he decided to sing his own pieces. He said he didn't think he had a good singing voice but if Louie Armstrong was selling records with that voice he'd be just fine. He traveled in Europe, recorded many records in Germany.
