Filter is an American rock band formed in 1993. The current members are Richard Patrick, Mika Fineo, Rob Patterson, and Phil Buckman.
They released their platinum selling debut album Short Bus in 1995, which contained the controversial hit single "Hey Man, Nice Shot", reputedly inspired by Kurt Cobain's suicide the year before.
After a period spent writing soundtrack contributions (including "Thanks Bro" for The X-Files, "Jurassitol" for The Crow: City of Angels and "(Can't You) Trip Like I Do" for the Spawn film) they released Title of Record (1999). It charted at No.30 in the Billboard 200 and also achieved platinum certification.
The Amalgamut was released in 2002, but the tour for the album ended when Patrick decided to enter rehab.
Any future Filter releases were shelved thereafter while Patrick diverted his energies to the supergroup The Damning Well and Army of Anyone, the latter having released their debut eponymous album in 2006.
Anthems for the Damned was released in 2008.
