John Ondrasik is the only member of Five For Fighting - though it sounds like it could represent an aggressive quintuplet, the name actually comes from an expression in ice hockey commentary. He got his big break when "Superman (It Ain't Easy)" was chosen as one of the few songs MTV were happy to play in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11th. That increased exposure lead it to No.14 on the Hot 100 and No.2 on the Australian charts, and helped propel sales of second album American Town over a million. The Battle For Everything (2004) continued his success, and the song "100 Years" was a minor hit across the globe. Ondrasnik's fourth album, Two Lights (2006), has been his most successful yet. Although lead single "The Riddle" did not chart as highly as his previous hit singles, the album has already sold more than two million copies.
