Zig-Zag Walk is one of Foghat's best recordings. No, it is not like the Foghat of the 70's. Get over it! They grew and changed musically over the years, which is what a good band ought to do. You don't want to listen to a band that just reproduces the same sound over and over again, year after year. Granted, this album is a far cry from anything they ever did, but standing on it's own merits, it ranks with the best music they ever made. Definitely recommend this product. And this album did not reach #40 on the Billboard charts. It never made the Billboard charts, so Amazon, that piece of information is wrong.

This is a strange and atypical Foghat album. It doesn't sound like anything else they've done. It is NOT the rock 'n' roll Foghat of the 70's. Their music took a different direction starting with "Tight Shoes" in 1979. "Boogie Motel" was the last album that lead guitarist Rod Price played on until 1994's "Return of the Boogie Men".

When I originally bought this album when it first came out, I was horrified - this wasn't the Foghat I knew and loved. It didn't sound anything like that Foghat of yore. It is not a rock album; it is not like any blues albums I have ever heard. The best way that I can think to describe this album is "rockabilly light". I have heard rockabilly that I liked, years ago, by the Stray Cats. Their albums had the "rock" part of rockabilly. This album does not have that. It is so light and fluffy, it could be a nice, sweet little pet rabbit, and about as much fun as watching the grass grow.

Still, after all these years, I revile this album and think it is their WORST album ever! It disgusts and horrifies me to even see the album cover again! (shudder!). I gave away all my vinyl years ago, replacing it all with CD but I will never buy this CD! Horrible, horrible, horrible!

What a sad ending for such a good band! This was their last album until 1994's "Return of the Boogie Men", where they return to their blues-rock roots and guitarist Rod Price rejoins the band. I highly recommend "Return of the Boogie Men" over this album.
