Edit

Multiple award-winning gospel singer and producer Fred Hammond started as a bass player in The Winans, before joining five friends to form Commissioned, and then forming his own project, Radical for Christ.

Radical for Christ’s biggest success was 1998 album Pages of Life: Chapters 1 & 2. “Let the Praise Begin” and “Power” both won Dove Awards, and the album was a platinum seller within a year of release. It has now been certified double platinum. Purpose By Design (2000) was certified gold-selling, before Hammond was nominated for Stellar and Grammy Awards for the song “Celebrate (He Lives)” in 2004.

In 2008 Hammond won a Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album, Free to Worship.
