Biography

Edit

Fuel is an American rock band originally formed in 1989 with the name Small the Joy. By the time they independently released the successful EP Porcelain in 1994, they had changed their name to Fuel. "Shimmer" from the EP became a local radio hit and increased their profile to the point that they were signed by Sony, who released a further EP Hazelton in 1997 and the full length, platinum-selling debut Sunburn the following year. The track "Shimmer" was reprised on the album and once again, became a hit.

They bettered the success of their debut with the release of Something Like Human in 2000, which was certified double platinum and reached No.17 on the US Billboard charts. Legal wrangles and medical problems for Brett Scallions (singer) delayed the release of their third album, Natural Selection. It peaked at No.15 on the Billboard charts, but Scallion's ongoing medical issues resulted in problems with his voice and he left after the release of the album. Rumours that Scallion was to be replaced by American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry proved unfounded and Toryn Green was finally hired as the new vocalist for 2007's Angels & Devils. The album peaked at No.42 making it their least successful album to date.
