Funeral for a Friend is a British emo band formed in 2001 with the name January Thirst. The name changed with the release of their first EP, Between Order and Model, in 2002. By the release of their second EP, Four Ways To Scream Your Name, the band was signed to Warner Brothers.
In 2003, their full length debut, Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation, was released in the UK, though the US release did not follow until 2004. Instead, Americans were treated to a seven track EP Seven Ways to Scream Your Name which collected together tracks from the first two EPs. The band embarked on an ambitious tour, opening for Iron Maiden. When Hours was released in 2005, it appeared on both sides of the Atlantic at the same time. Tales Don't Tell Themselves was the album which charted highest in the UK at No.3. Though their profile in their homeland far exceeds that in the States, there is growing evidence that the momentum is gathering for the band.
