Garth Brooks is one of the most successful singer-songwriters in American history. To date he has sold more than 123 million albums in the US, built a huge international following, and enjoyed cross-over success in the US and abroad.
Of his 37 singles to reach the Hot Country Songs Top 10, 19 have reached No.1, including “If Tomorrow Never Comes”, “The Dance”, “The Thunder Rolls” and “Rodeo”. His most commercially and critically successful albums include: his debut Garth Brooks (1989), which is certified diamond; No Fences (1990), which is 17x platinum; Ropin' The Wind (1991), which is also 17x platinum; and Sevens (1997), which is certified diamond.
In 2001 Garth Brooks retired from music to spend more time with his family, promising to return when his children were older. He has continued to enjoy hits from previously recorded material, and has also made a few live performances. In 2007 at his “Final Concert”, Brooks reiterated his promise to come out of retirement after his youngest child finished high school, saying “I promise if you wait for me, I will be back.” Brooks lives in Oklahoma with his current wife, country music star Trisha Yearwood, and his three children from a previous marriage.
