R&B singer Ginuwine (born Elgin Baylor Lumpkin) made a breakthrough in 1996 with his debut single, the Timbaland-produced "Pony". His debut album The Bachelor was a multi-platinum seller, and marked the beginning of Timbaland's reign as one of the top hip hop producers of the 90s. 100% Ginuwine (1999) hit No.3 on the Billboard chart and sold another two million copies. The Life (2001) featured Ginuwine's biggest hit single yet: "Differences" spent four weeks at the top of the R&B chart, and reached No.4 on the Hot 100. "In Those Jeans" was another Top 10 hit in 2003, from the album The Senior; and Ginuwine's latest album was Back II Da Basics (2005). Unfortunately, none of the singles from Back II Da Basics reached the Hot 100.
A new album called I Apologize was released in 2007, purporting to be a genuine Ginuwine studio album. However, Ginuwine spoke out against the unauthorized release, revealing that it was not in fact a genuine Ginuwine studio album. Currently he is working on a genuine new Ginuwine album, and also on a project with Tank and Tyrese called TGT.
