"Crazy" was a massive hit, topping the UK charts for nine weeks before being pulled by the group, who explained that they didn't want people to get tired of it. It was Britain's biggest-selling single of the year, and also topped the charts in Austria, Canada, Denmark, Ireland and other countries. In the US, it reached No. 2, and at the end of the year several music magazines and websites named it as the best song of 2006. The album was warmly received, and won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. It sold over a million in the US, and topped the British album charts. Subsequent singles "Smiley Faces" and "Gone Daddy Gone" (a Violent Femmes cover) also performed well.
In 2008, Gnarls Barkley released The Odd Couple. Due to an Internet leak, the album's release date was pushed up by two weeks. The album received positive reviews, and included the hit singles "Run (I'm a Natural Disaster)," "Going On" and "Who's Gonna Save My Soul." The band also released a backwards instrumental version of the album via the Internet.
