Overview Edit

Jed is the second studio album by the Goo Goo Dolls. It marks the first studio album in which John Rzeznik sung vocals for some of the tracks. The majority of the songs are sung by Robby Takac, with Rzeznik taking over for two ("Up Yours" and "James Dean"). Fellow upstate New Yorker Lance Diamond sings vocals on track seven, "Down On The Corner." Track number six, "Sex Maggot," shares a name with the band's original name, the Sex Maggots. The second track on the album, "Up Yours", was the only song from Jed found on the band's compilation album What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce. The song "No Way Out" was also included on the bands most recent compilation album Volume Two, which consisted of other album tracks, b-sides and rarities. The album was re-released on CD on February 22, 1994.

The album was named after painter Jed Jackson, who was Robby Takac's art teacher in college and who painted the cover artwork, which is entitled "Arkansas Sunset". Jed is from Arkansas.

5 stars The Goo Goo Dolls Never Fail To Deliver Great Music!
Most people know the Goos for hits like Name, Iris, Or Slide. But the truth is that they are also a kick @$$ rock band! This album is a must have if you a huge of Robby Takac (who sings 12 out of the 14 songs on this record), but you still want a couple songs by John Rzeznik. Plus as a bonus you get a cover of "Down On The Corner" sang by Lance Diamond, a great singer who performs locally in Buffalo, New York. This Album is full of great songs like "Out Of Sight", "Up Yours", "Road To Salinas", …

3 stars The Goo's are awesome, but...
Sorry I had to give this CD such a low rating, but I just don't like this type of music! Johnney only sings 2 of the songs on this CD, and all the rest are Robbie's. Some songs are OK, like "Out Of Sight" and "James Dean", but I can tell you that every single one besides them suck. I am a MAJOR Goo Goo Doll's fan, and I own all their CDs except their first one, which I can't find anywhere, so I know what's good of theirs and what isn't. If you've got their 4 later CDs, get this to hear what they…
