Pop-punksters Good Charlotte secured their initial popularity in the late 1990s when they toured with Lit and blink-182, resulting in a record deal with Epic Records in 1999. Their debut album Good Charlotte was released in 2000, followed in 2002 by their breakthrough outing, The Young and the Hopeless, which achieved triple platinum status. The breakthrough single from the album was "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" which charted across the world.
In 2004 they released The Chronicles of Life and Death which introduced new elements into their sound, with strings and synths featuring on singles such as "I Just Wanna Live". This departure met with measured praise from the critics and fans, though the album was not as popular as their last outing.
Good Morning Revival was released in 2007 and debuted in the Top 10 of the album charts of several countries even though, again, their sound had evolved towards an altogether more 'rocky' and experimental feel which alienated some fans. In summer 2007 the band embarked on a tour of North America as support on Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveShow Tour.
