Demon Days is the second studio album by British band Gorillaz, released in May 2005. The album features contributions from De La Soul, Neneh Cherry, Martina Topley-Bird, Roots Manuva, MF DOOM, Ike Turner, Bootie Brown of the Pharcyde, Shaun Ryder, Dennis Hopper, the London Community Gospel Choir and the Children's Choir of San Fernandez.

Demon Days entered the UK charts at #1 and the U.S. charts at #6 outperforming the band's 2001 debut, Gorillaz. The album has sold over six million copies as of 2006. The album features the singles "Feel Good Inc.", "DARE", "Dirty Harry" and "Kids with Guns" / "El Mañana".

5 stars It may be different. But it's just as brilliant
Like you, I loved the first Gorillaz record. But also like you, I was a little worried about Gorillaz falling prey to the dreaded sophomore slump that many bands subsequently release after belting out such a stunning debut. Unfortunately, a lot of people are calling "Demon Days" just that, which couldn't be further from the truth. I can't say that I'm surprised, due to the change in the band's line up. 2 stars Automator, we miss ya...
The previous Gorillaz-album derived its sound for at least 80% from The Automator's deep & heavy beats, which gave most of the tracks a dark twist, contrasting well with the cartoonish image of the band. Now... it's just pop, with very generic beats, at that.

So, it looks like this is a typical 2nd album after all. Hopefully the successor will be better.. perhaps they can sway The Automator to come back?
