Biography

Edit

Gym Class Heroes are an American hip-hop band who have found crossover success in the indie circuit as a result of their liaison with the pop-punksters Fall Out Boy.

They began by self-releasing a number of CDs (Hed Candy (1999), Greasy Kids Stuff (2000), ...For The Kids (2001) and The Papercut EP (2004)) and touring, eventually playing at bigger and bigger venues. As a result, the band began to develop a cult following in the indie circuit and, after hearing the song “Taxi Driver”, Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy invited the band to one of his shows. Stump’s ongoing support led to a record deal with Decaydance.

Once they were signed they released The Papercut Chronicles (2005), and in 2006 they released As Cruel as School Children. This resulted in their most successful single to date “Cupid's Chokehold”, though a different version of the track had originally been included on The Papercut Chronicles.
