Biography

Edit

Hot Chip self-released a number of records before hitting the UK charts in 2006 with their single “Over and Over”. The song was later named as the single of 2006 by the NME music magazine.

As a band, Hot Chip have existed since two of the members, Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, were at school together in 2000. They did not sign to a record label until 2003 and their debut Coming on Strong was released the following year. An American record deal was signed in 2005 and their debut finally saw a stateside release. The Warning, their second album, gained significant recognition among UK critics and the success of “Over and Over” consolidated the positive reception the record received.

Made in the Dark was released in 2008 and has enjoyed similar critical approval.

SuBo's Influence Reaches Hot Chip

Jan, 24 2010

Susan Boyle spent most of last year setting the world alight with her prodigious talent and rise to international fame. Her swift journey has captured the hearts of millions, and though she appears to struggle with her new found place in the spotlight, she has many public and celebrity supporters. Several unlikely fans including Snoop Dogg, Lady Gaga and Kelly Rowland have indicated an interest in collaborating with the singer, and the latest SuBo champion is British electro-pop band Hot Chip, who have revealed that the Cinderella tale is such an inspiration that it has spawned a track on their latest album. Bandmember Joe Goddard recently revealed to NME that he had found Susan’s initial performance on the reality TV show Britain’s Got Talent very affecting. “I’d never seen it before and I found it quite incredible,” he said. “Just listening to that made me want to write a song. I sent the track to Alexis (Taylor) and he quickly wrote the words and sent it back.” The track turned into “Keep Quiet” and will feature on the band’s hotly anticipated February album release, One Life Stand.
