Biography

Edit

Hot Tuna was developed as an acoustic (and sometime electric) offshoot of Jefferson Airplane. Originally the band played alongside Jefferson Airplane, opening for them at gigs, but once Airplane disbanded, Hot Tuna endured. After an eponymous debut album which confined itself to acoustic blues they incorporated an electric sound which was fully realized in the later albums, beginning with 1975's America's Choice. The band split in 1978 but reformed in the mid 1980s. No new material was forthcoming until 1990's Pair of Dice Found.
