Howie Day is an American singer-songwriter born in 1981, whose fame has been buoyed by infamy relating to his issues with alcohol and bad behaviour.
His promise was evident from a young age and his mother encouraged it by enrolling him in piano lessons. By 1996 he began to make appearances in public, playing local venues and his success was such that he chose not to attend University. His first releases were self-financed; an EP, Australia and a demo in 1998; sufficient to attract label interest. Stop All The World Now was released in 2003 to lukewarm reviews and initial sales were lackluster, though revived when "Collide" was picked up by several TV shows including Scrubs.
Work on a follow-up album is well underway, though may be hampered by his admission into rehab for ongoing addiction problems.
