Overview Edit

Clayman is the fifth album by Swedish melodic death metal band In Flames. The album was released by Nuclear Blast in 2000. Most of the lyrics deal with depression and internal struggles.

The album's cover art is based on Leonardo da Vinci's drawing, the Vitruvian Man. The Jesterhead appears in the background, both on the cover, and in the album booklet itself.

Music Videos were made for "Pinball Map" & "Only For The Weak" with Metal Hammer naming "Only For The Weak" its top 10 Death Metal song.

Iron Maiden meets Megadeth meets Carcass. With musicianship and creativity to spare, In Flames were at the top of their game with "Clayman."

As "Clayman" amply demonstrates, In Flames are one of th…

3 stars A good album, but not as classic as their previous albums
Every one of In Flames' releases to date have been classics, so I had high expectations of this album. For the most part, I was not disappointed. The album is the chugging, heavy, melodic death metal laced with blistering leads that In Flames is known for.

On this album, it seems that In Flames is experimenting a bit. Is that a good thing? For the most part, it is. The "clean" vocal style that Anders Friden has toyed with on past albums have become more prominent throughout, adding some variety …
