Biography

Edit

India.Arie was born India Arie Simpson in 1975 in Denver. She is an R&B and neo soul singer-songwriter and musician, she also produces her own work. Her voice and cross genre appeal have helped her sell over five million albums worldwide.

Arie has released three albums to date, all of which have been huge critical and commercial success. Her 2001 debut album garnered seven Grammy nominations and although it failed to win any, it eventually went on to double platinum status. She made up for the Grammy disappointments with the follow-up, which won both the Best R&B album and Urban/Alternative Performance awards.

She had her first No.1 on the Billboard 200 courtesy of her most recent album, Testimony: Vol. 1, Life and Relationship. The album features collaborations with R&B artist Akon and country band Rascall Flatts. With her broad appeal, she has worked with a diverse group of artists including Sérgio Mendes, Stevie Wonder and Bonnie Raitt.
