Biography

Edit

ICP know there's nothing creepier than a crazy clown, so they dress as psycho jesters and rap about their violent personas. Though they've built a dedicated fan-base, many critics accuse them of being immature and misogynistic, and some have even named them the worst group in the world.

The Insane Clown Posse (ICP) are Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, who formed the horrorcore/acid rap group from the ashes of the Inner City Posse in Detroit, in late 1991. They had their breakthrough with The Ringmaster, released in 1994, which helped to consolidate their big local following. They built on it with The Riddlebox the following year and both albums have subsequently gone gold.

In 1997 the band's record label, Hollywood Records (owned by Disney), withdrew The Great Milenko album on the day it was supposed to be released. The resulting publicity worked in the band's favour, and after a label swap, it has since gone platinum. The furor also benefited their next release The Amazing Jeckel Brothers, which debuted at No.4 on the Billboard charts and has since become the band's best-selling release to date.

Music from The Great Milenko album appeared in the ICP film Big Money Hustlas which starred the band and featured a long list of rappers including Jamie Madrox, Monoxide and Myzery.

The band made several releases after the film, all of which have been consistently successful, and continue to be the most well-known underground hip hop group.

Jack White Has Gone Insane

Aug, 31 2011

In big news today, Jack White has announced, via YouTube, a new collaboration. Check out the video here. Now pick your jaw up off the floor. Yes, White's Third Man Records is releasing a project featuring White and both members of the Insane Clown Posse. The song, "Leck Mich Im Arsch," which essentially means "Kiss My Ass," will be available to the public digitally and as a 7" on September 13. In addition to featuring the Juggalos' heroes, the song will also be a take on an old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart melody from 1782. -Erin O.
