4 stars Jackie Leven - Honestly and naked
The first time I heard Jackie Leven I thought he had to be the most depressed man on earth..But after listening at this CD,"fairy tales for hard men",I began to hear the beauty of his words and music. To hear something this naked, simple and honestly must be a reveal for our souls. And if you listen carefully, there are hidden messages in every song.I also recommend "The mystery of love is greater than the mystery of death". Be openminded when you listen to Jackie Leven. You may even learn something of him....

1 stars Disappointingly shallow
While the songs on this CD can honestly be called harsh in their depictions of reality, they fall far short of fairytale stature in their repeated lack of resolution. This seems more an album meant to justify the hardness of being a man rather than offering insights into nature of this hardness. The singer's voice seems strained on some of the songs, but the listener is unable to tell whether this is from emotion or from vocal limits.
