Biography

Edit

James Horner is a London-born classical composer best known for his film scores, most notably Titanic.

Horner spent his formative years studying at the Royal College of Music in London, before moving to LA to complete his studies, and then going to teach music theory at UCLA. In 1980 he was approached by director Roger Corman to score the film Battle Beyond the Stars. This was to be the first of many film scores that Horner would write, including Star Trek II and Star Trek III, Aliens (for which he received an Academy Award nomination), Field of Dreams and Braveheart.

Horner had his greatest success when James Cameron asked him to provide music for Titanic. The soundtrack album went on to sell 24 million copies and earned Horner an Academy award, three Grammys and two Golden Globes.
