James "Jamie" Cyrus Stewart (born March 2, 1972) is the front-man of the American musical group Xiu Xiu (singer/guitarist/programmer) and a member of Former Ghosts. He was also a member of 7 Year Rabbit Cycle which has since disbanded. He is a native of Northridge, California, grew up in Los Angeles, California, and currently splits his time between Durham, North Carolina and Oakland, California. Jamie started out in an R&B cover band before forming IBOPA with his father, Michael Stewart and seven other people.
When IBOPA broke up, he took one of his men, Cory McCulloch, to create Ten in the Swear Jar, which evolved into Xiu Xiu. He is openly bisexual
Stewart has contributed to many various one-time projects, including a voice-over for the experimental short film Hallelujah! Gorilla Revival. He also works as a producer and has produced albums for various indie bands, including The Shiny Diamonds, and Railcars.
Stewart has also collaborated with HORSE the Band, Devendra Banhart, Shearwater, Prurient, Grouper and Larsen.
