Overview Edit

The Black Album is the eighth studio album by American rapper Jay-Z, released November 14, 2003 on Roc-A-Fella Records. It was promoted as his final studio album, which serves as a recurring theme, although Jay-Z returned to solo recording with Kingdom Come in 2006.

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 463,000 copies in its first week. It produced three singles that attained Billboard chart success, including Hot 100 top-ten hits "Change Clothes" and "Dirt Off Your Shoulder". Upon its release, The Black Album received general acclaim from most music critics.

5 stars Very limited audience, but well worth it for them
Just copped this today..nice to have an "official" acappella album for blends and such. If you're not into mixing and blending, however, the only appeal of this album is hearing the power of the words, without any instrumentals.

3 stars Eh
As much as I like Jay-Z, I find it hard to listen to even two tracks on this album. He's a good rapper and all, but his voice can get kind of annoying after awhile. So, I tried listening to this album but got nothing but annoyance. I like the normal version because of the beats so I got that, but I downloaded the acapella to see how it sounded. It kinda sucked. I'm glad I downloaded it, because it wasn't worth my money. But seriously, if you're a DJ and want to use some of your own beats to back up his voice, go right ahead.
