US jazz and neo-soul singer-songwriter Jill Scott has achieved critical and commercial success with all her records to date, and has received a Grammy nomination for the track "A Long Walk" from the debut album Who is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol.1. "Cross My Mind", from the follow-up, Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2, won the Best Urban/Alternative Performance Grammy and helped take the album to No.1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Scott's acting credits include the TV series Girlfriends, and the film Cavedwellers. She also has a starring role in the film version of the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency, due for release in 2008.
