R&B singer Joe has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, but is still to win any. That losing streak is unlikely to last long, however, as he continues to release consistently popular material. After an independent and unsuccesful debut release in 1993, Joe released his major-label debut album All That I Am in 1997, spawning three minor hit singles. The album reached No.13 in the charts and has since been certified platinum. In 1999 his profile received a boost when he featured on Mariah Carey's smash-hit single "Thank God I Found You", which topped the American pop charts. His next album was far more popular: My Name Is Joe (2002) hit No.2 in the charts and went on to sell over three million copies. It included another three singles, including his biggest hit so far: "Stutter" topped the US charts, and even reached No.7 in the UK.
The unfortunately titled Better Days (2001) saw a downturn, as it didn't breach the Top 30 of the album charts, and has only been certified gold (for half a million sales). However, it did earn him his first two Grammy nominations, so it was not a total failure. And Then... (2003) was marginally more successful, and Joe released his sixth album Ain't Nothin' Like Me in April 2007. It sold 98,000 copies in it's first week, taking it to No.2 in the Billboard 200.
