Self-Aware Mayer Sorry For Faux Pas
Feb, 14 2010
John Mayer has articulately apologized for a controversial interview with Playboy in which he talked frankly about his sex life and relationships with Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, explained his preference for white women as "like a white supremacist[s],"and dropped the n-bomb.
"I am sorry that I used the word," he tweeted. "And it's such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there's no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged. "
Mayer, whose openness has often led him to say things he might later regret, vowed to be more careful with his words in the future. "I think it's time to stop trying to be so raw in interviews. It started as an attempt to not let the waves of criticism get to me, but it's gotten out of hand and I've created somewhat of a monster."

John Mayer Battles To No.1
Nov, 28 2009
John Mayer has finished top of the pile in a very competitive week on the Billboard 200 album chart. His Battle Studies sold 286,000 in its debut week, beating Andrea Bocelli's My Christmas and Norah Jones' The Fall which sold 185,000 and 180,000 albums respectively. Jones' week was a disappointment, following three consecutive No.1 albums, the last of which, Not Too Late, sold over 400,000 in its debut week almost three years ago. American Idol winner Kris Allen also disappointed, finishing one place outside the Top 10 with 80,000 sales of his self-titled debut. But a down week for some means an up week for others, and it's Casting Crowns who have most to celebrate this week: new album Until The Whole World Hears hits No.4 with a best-ever sales total of 167,000, while 2008's Peace On Earth benefits from a rule-change to rise to No.15 with 56,000 sales. The new rules allow older albums into the Billboard 200 instead of limiting them into the Comprehensive chart, allowing all truly popular records to be grouped together. Taylor Swift also benefits from the reshuffle, as two-year old Christmas EP Sounds Of The Season arrives at No.20. But John Mayer will almost certainly relinquish his No.1 slot next week: Susan Boyle's debut I Dreamed A Dream will top the chart and probably break a few records too.
