Biography

Edit

Johnny Mathis was one of the most popular and enduring romantic jazz standards singers of the 50s and 60s. He extended his career beyond those glory days and even had a dalliance with disco in the late 70s, including an album recorded with Chic which was never released. He also released nine Christmas-themed albums, and in 1957 Johnny's Greatest Hits was the first greatest hits LP released. It spent nearly ten years on the Billboard album chart. In total Johnny Mathis has recorded 94 albums so far, released over 200 singles, and is believed to have sold around 350 million records overall.

Johnny Mathis is also a keen cook (with one published cook-book), a regular visitor to casinos, and an excellent golf player. He plays golf every day and frequently performs at golfing events and tournaments.
