Rock musician Juanes was born Juan Esteban Aristizabal Vasquez in Medellín (Colombia) in 1972.

He was a founding member of the rock band Ekhymosis which includes a rock version of the National Anthem of Columbia amongst its back-catalogue, he disbanded the group after ten years to allow him to record more traditional Latin-style music.

His debut solo album, 2000's, Fijate Bien, was the first of string of successful albums which have resulted in him receiving a total of 12 Latin Grammys
