K-Ci & JoJo are the R&B duo who struck out on their own from the 'bad boys of R&B' Jodeci, and topped the charts with "Lately" and "Forever My Lady".
Cedric and Joel Hailey are the ex-choirboys from North Carolina who joined with brothers Donald and Dalvin Degrate to form the successful R&B quartet Jodeci, who came to fame with a sting of successful singles, and three platinum selling albums.
K-Ci embarked on a side-project, while still with Jodeci, recording a cover of Bobby Womack's "If You Think You're Lonely Now", which was used in the film Jason's Lyric. JoJo joined him to record a track for another film, Bulletproof, and the pair started to work together. One of their early works was providing vocals on 2pac's, Grammy nominated "How Do U Want It?". Throughout the pairs rising profile, there was no formal announcement of the split up of Jodeci.
K-Ci & JoJo released their debut album Love Always in 1997, two top ten singles and No.1 in "All My Life" took the album to four million sales and the pair were well and truly established as a stand alone act. They repeated their platinum success with their next album, promoted again, by a string of successful singles.
Just after the release of X, which celebrated their tenth year in the music industry, K-Ci was the centre of controversy as the result of a Jim Morrison-esque moment at the KIIS-FM's, aptly named, Jingle Ball 2000 concert. The indecent exposure incident resulted in a court appearance and probation, but didn't diminish fan following and X too went platinum.
There was a two year gap until the pair's fourth album, possibly due to working on the, as yet unreleased, Jodeci come back album, but time out of the limelight didn't served them well, and the album has failed to sell in the same quantities as their earlier work.
