Though they are named after a football team from South Africa, Kaiser Chiefs are an English indie-rock band who achieved huge chart success in the UK in 2005. They were credited by many critics as being a leading band in the so-called Britpop revival, and their catchy singles were often compared to those of early Blur. Kaiser Chiefs' debut album Employment sold around three million copies and was nominated for the Mercury prize. It included four hit singles: "Oh My God", "Everyday I Love You Less and Less", "I Predict a Riot" and "Modern Way".
Two years later they released their follow-up album Yours Truly, Angry Mob. It topped the album chart in Britain and was a hit in other countries too: to date it has sold over a million copies worldwide. The first single "Ruby" became the band's first No.1 single in February 2007. However, the album was met with mediocre reviews, and was widely said to be inferior to Employment. The band are planning to record their third album very soon.
