Breakaway is the second studio album by American recording artist Kelly Clarkson, released on November 30, 2004. Breakaway received two awards at the 2006 Grammy Awards including "Best Pop Vocal Album" and "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" for the single "Since U Been Gone"..

The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 for selling 250,000 copies. It was eventually certified 6x Platinum by the RIAA. It remains Clarkson's best-selling album to date, with sales of over 6,138,000 copies sold in the U.S, as of April 2010. It is also the most successful Idol album to date, and the second most successful Idol album in the USA, behind Some Hearts from Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood. In Australia, after debuting at fifty-four and peaking at two, Breakaway was Australia's second best-selling album of 2005. In Canada, Breakaway was certified 5x Platinum for sales of over 500,000 copies shipped.

5 stars Awfully hard to top this one
I'll admit, my first impression of this album upon listening the first time around wasn't that good. I'll tell you why... I saw too many Avril Lavigne similarities. Especially the "woah... oh oh" sounds Avril has made popular. However, I did not let that deter me from listening to the album with an open mind.

Upon listening to the album 3 or 4 times, I concluded that this is one of the better rock/pop albums I've ever heard; especially by a solo female artist. On Kelly's debut album, she didn't…

3 stars Good, But Not Effortless
I bought this album based on the strength and catchiness of the debut single "Breakaway." After hearing it numerous times on the radio, I couldn't get it out of my head. I was very pleased to see "Since U Been Gone," "Behind These Hazel Eyes," and especially "Because Of You" go on to do very well on the charts and get heavy rotation on the radio. "Breakaway" is a good album and shines through smart production and solid songwriting (Kelly wrote/co-wrote six of the album's twelve songs). Obviously…
