Biography

Edit

Kenny Loggins is the American singer-songwriter who brought us "Footloose" from the film soundtrack of the same name. He is also famous for a series of other soft rock tunes from movie soundtracks of the 1980s, including "Danger Zone" (Top Gun) and "I'm Alright" (Caddyshack).

His early career found him playing in the band The Electric Prunes and working as a contract songwriter for The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and by the 1970s he had formed a successful creative partnership with Jim Messina. They released a series of albums under the name Loggins and Messina from 1972 to 1976. Though the partnership split in the mid 1970s, Loggins reunited with him in 2005 for the album Loggins and Messina Live - Sittin' In Again at Santa Barbara Bowl - a reprise of their debut together, Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin' In (1972). In between, he released 13 solo albums, including two albums for children, (Return to Pooh Corner (1994), More Songs from Pooh Corner (2000)) and the obligatory Christmas album, Christmas Time is Here (2001).

He has also scored hits with songs written for other artists, including "What a Fool Believes" (for, amongst others, The Doobie Brothers) and has provided guest vocals on the albums of many of his peers.
