Kimberley Rew is an English rock and roll singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as a founder of Katrina and the Waves and was also guitarist in Robyn Hitchcock's Soft Boys from 1978 to 1981. Two of his best known compositions, both written for Katrina and the Waves, are "Walking on Sunshine" and '"Going Down to Liverpool" (covered by the Bangles). Another is "Love Shine a Light," which he originally wrote as an anthem for the Samaritans, but which ended up being performed by Katrina and the Waves as the United Kingdom's entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1997, and took the country to its first victory in the contest since 1981.
From 1988 through to 2003 Rew was a guest member with the Cambridge band The Lonely. During this period Kim played on 4 albums, 1989 'Underground', 1991 'Cynthia, 1998 'Rarer Gifts' and 2000 'Live.'
Rew continued to write, record and release solo albums, most recently 'The Safest Place' 2010.
He can be heard with Cambridge band 'Jack' most Wednesdays at the Hopbine, Cambridge, and sometimes with 'Kim and Lee', all of the above with wife and musical partner Lee Cave-Berry. A free download of the concept EP 'Ridgeway' is available on Rew's official website.
In 2007 Celine Dion's album Taking Chances was released and featured the track 'That's Just The Woman In Me' written by Kim.
2010 is the 25th anniversary of the release of "Walking On Sunshine" and a series of back-catalogue re-releases and a re-recorded version of the track are being released.
