Overview Edit

Dressed to Kill is a 1975 album from American hard rock group Kiss. It is the band's third studio album and is unique for having been produced by the president of Casablanca Records, Neil Bogart, as the financial situation of the label at the time didn't allow the hiring of a professional producer.

"C'mon and Love Me", and "Rock and Roll All Nite" were released as singles. Both failed to rise high on the charts until "Rock and Roll All Nite" was released in its live format as a single later that year off their double live album Alive! and reached number 12 on the singles charts.

The album was re-released in 1997 (along with most of Kiss' earlier albums) in a remastered version. Possibly due to the very short length of the album, original vinyl versions had unusually long pauses between each track to create the illusion that the sides were longer than they were. Each side ran just 15 minutes, and some of the times of the songs were incorrect on the vinyl versions. For example, "Two Timer" was listed at 2:59 and "Ladies in Waiting" was listed at 2:47.

It peaked at number 32 on the charts and was certified Gold by the RIAA on February 28, 1977.

While the album cover depicts Kiss in business suits, the only member of the band who actually owned one was Peter Criss. The suits wore in the cover by the rest of the band were owned by manager Bill Aucoin.

4 stars 1975: A Pivital Year For KISS
THE BAND: Gene Simmons (Gene Klein), Paul Stanley (Stanley Eisen), Ace Frehley (Paul Frehley), Peter Criss (Peter Crisscoula).

THE DISC: Released 3/19/75. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios (NYC). 10 songs clocking in at approximately 32 minutes (amazingly short in this day and age... 8 of the 10 songs were under the 3 minute mark). A classic black and white photo of the band in their face paint and leisure suits standing on a NYC corner is simply classic (not to mention Peter's buck saddle shoe…

3 stars Dressed to Kill (1975)
By their third record Dressed to Kill, Kiss's songwriting had improved considerably. While Kissmania was yet to take off, Dressed to Kill proved Kiss was on their way. This set contains the Kiss anthem Rock and Roll All Night. Nothing on the record is quite as memorable as Rock and Roll All Night, but the remainder of Dressed to Kill was interesting.
