The blues singer and musician Koko Taylor was born in Tennessee in 1928. She came to fame with her version of Willie Dixon’s “Wang Dang Doodle” in 1966, which sold over one million copies.

Taylor has a steady string of album releases to her credit including; I Got What It Takes and Old School and she has received recognition at the Grammys with the Best Traditional Blues Album award for her contribution to the Blues Explosion compilation. She made an appearance in the 1998 film Blues Brothers 2000 and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1997.
