Ladyhawke is the electro-pop vehicle for New Zealand singer-songwriter Phillipa (Pip) Brown. Having been involved with previous New Zealand band Two Lane Blacktop, she moved to Sydney and worked with several artists in the area, including a duo with Nick Littlemore of Pnau called Teenager. In 2006, she rebranded herself as Ladyhawke and worked on a more pop-oriented electronica sound.
In 2007, she started recording her debut album, a work that was strongly influenced by the 80's, but with a fresh, vibrant synth-based twist. This sound has garnered acclaim amongst critics and fans alike and has had her topping many 'one-to-watch' lists in 2009.
