Biography

Edit

Lamb of God is an American metal band formed in 1990 under the original name Burn the Priest. The current line-up is Mark Morton (guitar), Chris Adler (drums), John Campbell (bass), Randy Blythe (vocals) and Willie Adler (guitar).

As Burn the Priest they released their first eponymous album in 1999 and a collection of tracks was made packaged as Sevens and More and released in downloadable format in 1998. It was at this point that they changed their name to Lamb of God.

The newly re-named band signed a deal with Prosthetic Records and released New American Gospel in 2000 (re-released in 2006) which they described as 'a rhythmic and pummeling musical landscape with riff after riff'. They undertook a punishing touring schedule to promote that album before releasing As The Palaces Burn in 2003, an album which won them much praise amongst the metal press.

After a well received appearance as co-headliner on the MTV Headbanger's Ball Tour and a successful DVD of their early live appearances, Lamb of God's profile slowly grew. They consolidated this growing reputation with the release of their 2004 Epic label debut, Ashes of the Wake which entered the US Billboard charts at No.27, achieved gold status and won the admiration of the critics and, of course, their fans.

2006's Sacrament bested its predecessor, reaching No.8 in the charts and the track "Redneck" was nominated for a Grammy later that year.

Religious Play ‘Lamb Of God’ Not Lamb Of God

Aug, 16 2010

American heavy metal band Lamb of God has been obliged to take action to prevent fervent fans from gatecrashing a performance of a religious play. The confusion arose as rumors began to circulate that the band were playing a small date in Tempe, Arizona. As excitement mounted, few Lamb of God fans thought to check the facts, and chaos seemed a very real possibility for the church-going townsfolk of Tempe. Luckily, disaster was averted when the band interceded with a timely statement. “Lamb of God would like to officially denounce any buzz of a show that they have been rumored to be playing in the near future. The band will not be performing in Tempe, AZ at said show. The event is a religious play being performed in Tempe, and is NOT related to the band Lamb of God at all, whatsoever.” Unfortunately, thwarted LOG fans will have quite a distance to travel in order to see the band; the next leg of their tour takes them to South America and then on to Australia. Unless, of course, the band fancies hiring a church hall in Arizona during one of their nights off?
