Overview Edit

Lost Horizons is the second album release (and the first studio proper, since the previous album Lemonjelly.ky was a compilation of their debut EPs) from Lemon Jelly, released in October 2002. The album produced two charting singles in the UK, "Space Walk" and "Nice Weather for Ducks". It was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2003. The album has more organic instrumentation than its predecessor, hence the addition of session musicians.

Like Lemonjelly. KY, several tracks have been used as incidental and ident music by the BBC. Part of the track "Curse of Ka'Zar" has been used by the Turner Classic Movies channel as background music to a promo for their 30 Days of Oscar month.

The track Space Walk is set to a recording of Ed White's 1965 space walk on the Gemini 4 mission.

5 stars Aural Sunshine
It's not often i'd use the word "whimsy" to describe a disc, but it's particularly apt here. Much like the Lemonjelly.ky single compilation, Lost Horizons is filled with a laid-back sense of joy. The one-two opening punch of "Elements" and "Space Walk" is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and "Nice Weather For Ducks" will keep it there.

People who get this expecting a laid-back 'chill' or 'lounge' disc are going to be in for a big suprise. The music is actually quite complex, and stands up…

2 stars have tried. cannot get.
i have every disk from thievery, tosca, k&d, dzihan & kamien, zero 7, etc.

i have owned this cd for over a year. i have tried, over and over, painfully tried, to enjoy this disk given its favorable reviews, and apparent compatibility with the genre of music i prefer. alas i have failed, and must confess that i truly do not like it. there are a couple innovative and interesting songs, nothing more. i am sorry. apologies all around.
