Singer Lisa Stansfield became a world star when her single "All Around The World" (1989) went to No.1 in the UK and No.3 in the US charts. Her debut album Affection (1990) sold over five million copies, helped by the success of more hit singles: "This is the Right Time", "Live Together", "What Did I Do To You" and "You Can't Deny It".
Her second album Real Love (1991) wasn't considered quite as good as Affection, but it still spawned four hit singles: "Change", "All Woman", "Time to Make You Mine" and "Set Your Loving Free".
Through the 90s she continued to be popular in the UK and Europe, though her status in the USA faded. Third album So Natural provided more hit singles, and a self-titled fourth album was boosted by club re-mixes proving a hit on the dancefloor.
Since that success, Stansfield has focussed on singing jazz standards and torch songs for other musicians, and on an acting career. In 2008 she is set to appear in The Edge of Love, a film also starring Keira Knightley and Cillian Murphy.
