Overview Edit

Bigger And Deffer (B.A.D.), is the second studio album by rapper LL Cool J and is remembered most for containing the first commercially successful "rap ballad", "I Need Love". It also contains the single "Go Cut Creator Go", which paid homage to his DJ, and the breakthrough single in the U.K. "I'm Bad". In 1998, the album was selected as one of The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums, while receiving mixed reviews from other critics. The front cover photograph on the album was taken in front of Andrew Jackson High School in Queens (which LL Cool J attended before dropping out in the 10th or 11th grade) and the back cover was shot in his grandmother's basement where he was living at the time, (both shot by Glen E. Friedman).

4 stars I'm gonna need backup
This is a strong album by one of the top rappers of all time. LL was really at the top of his game here. His rhymes were fresh and often funny. And his deejay Cut Creator provided some excellent samples for him to rap to. The album included his first hit single, "I Need Love", which was also the first important rap ballad. Fans of old school rap should enjoy this album a lot.

If you long for the days when hardcore rappers rapped about being late for school or forgetting to do their homework, then this is the rap record for you, foolz! Yep, yep, LL pulls out all the stops on this late '80's-era classic. Beat box is invented on "Bigger and Deffer," as is "street flowin'". There's even a softcore ballad called "I Need Love," where tender LL finally decides he needs to settle down with four chicks instead of the usual seven! Too rad!!
