New York rapper Lloyd Banks is a member of G-Unit, the group formed by 50 Cent which also includes Tony Yayo and Young Buck. They all collaborate on each other’s records, and together recorded double platinum Beg for Mercy (2003), before Banks launched his solo career with the million-selling The Hunger for More (2004).
Born in Baltimore but brought up in Queens, Christopher Lloyd grew up rapping on the streets with older pal Tony Yayo, who then became acquainted with rising star 50 Cent. When 50 hit it big, he took both younger rappers under his wing into G-Unit, and they all recorded Beg for Mercy (2003). Soon Banks released The Hunger for More (2004), which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of almost half a million. It featured the Hot 100 No.8 single “On Fire”, which was eventually certified gold. Rotten Apple (2006) didn’t do quite so well, debuting at No.3 and dropping off quickly.
