Biography

Edit

Lostprophets is a British alt-metal band formed in 1997. The current members are Ian Watkins, Jamie Oliver, Stuart Richardson, Lee Gaze, Mike Lewis, Ilan Rubin and Matthew Crumpton.

The band developed their sound while touring and they recorded a number of demos, none of which are commercially available. While touring they caught the attention of Kerrang magazine and ended up playing a London gig. The result was the release of Thefakesoundofprogress (2000), after which they signed to Columbia and re-released the album in 2001 amidst the standard accusations of having "sold-out".

The next album was 2004's Start Something which reached No.4 on the UK albums chart. The next release was Liberation Transmission in 2006 which reached the top of the UK album charts, a testimony to their intention to focus on the mainstream at that time. However they have stated that it is their intention to develop a rawer, darker sound for their new album, planned for release towards the end of 2007/start 2008.
