Biography

Edit

Mazzy Star are a pop/alternative band formed in 1989 in California, formed from the remnants of the band Opal by David Roback and Hope Sandoval. Their music has been described as dream pop, incorporating soft psychedelic elements.

They released their debut album She Hangs Brightly in 1990, although it was the 1993 follow-up that brought the band to greater attention. In 1993 the band released So Tonight That I Might See, the single "Fade Into You" went into the top 50 in US and UK and was the bands' most successful single. It has been used in a variety of settings including: the film Swept Away, and the TV series Alias and Roswell.

After the Among My Swan album in 1996 Sandoval and Roback went their separate ways to pursue other projects, although the band have not officially split up.
