Overview Edit

Room on the 3rd Floor is the debut album by English boyband McFly. It was released in 2004 and debuted at number one in the UK albums chart, breaking the world record for the youngest ever band with a #1 album, a record previously held by The Beatles. It reached the top of the charts after selling over 61,500 copies in the first week. Room on the 3rd Floor has been certified 2x Platinum in the UK for sales of over 800,000.

The album's main songwriters are Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, both from the group, and also contains contributions from James Bourne from Busted and Busted's main producers. The album is directly influenced by three things: modern pop punk, 1960s surfer pop, and tales of unrequited love.

The track "Get Over You" is hidden and does not appear on the track listing; it can be accessed by rewinding from the start of "5 Colours in Her Hair". This track cannot always be accessed if the CD is being played through a computer.

Four singles from the album have been released: "5 Colours in Her Hair" and "Obviously", which both went to number one. "That Girl", reached number three and title track, "Room on the 3rd Floor", got to number five.

An international version of the album features all the songs mentioned except "Broccoli" and "Surfer Babe". Another difference between the UK and international versions of the album is the different colour of the band name (the UK album has "McFly" in yellow but the international version has "McFly" in red).

The track "Saturday Night" was previously credited as "Saturday Nite" on the "5 Colours in Her Hair" single.

5 stars McFly:- Room On The 3rd Floor
Look, McFly really aren't that bad. They write their own songs, and play their own music, and to be quite honest with you, they're very talented. Their lyrics are good, because you can actually relate to them. They talk about teens problems in life and the ups and downs of love, which I really respect them for. They've also been a great success in the UK: they've released six singles so far; four of them have climbed to #1, and sure the other two were also hits, and this album also got #1. Their…

3 stars all hail mcfly
mcfly are great you can't disagree with me on that and their debut album'room on the third floor' just proves that. mcfly have more of a 60's theme to their music and in the pop industry today people want to be hearing new themes of music and even though mcfly are a new and young band they seemed t be obsessed with this period of time which was well before they were born unless they are hiding sometihng from us. even in interviews the foursome have laid it down hard that the 60's are their dream…
