Melanie Janine "Mel B" Brown (born 29 May 1975) is a British singer-songwriter, actress, author and television presenter. She is best known as one of the members of the girl group the Spice Girls. She was given the nickname "Scary Spice" by the British media because of her outrageous, "in-your-face" attitude, thick Leeds accent, throaty laugh and manner of dress.

Mel B’s ability to find success in America has been limited to her performance in Dancing With the Stars, but she has plans to fix that. She has recently announced plans to collaborate with Janet Jackson and has high hopes that this will help her to hit the top without The Spice Girls in tow. Other plans include working again with Missy Elliott to see if the Grammy award-winning rap star can help her to recapture the glory of her biggest solo success to date, the single "I Want You Back" on which they worked in 1998.
