Overview Edit

Never Enough is the third album by singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge, released in 1992 (see 1992 in music). Stepping away from electric guitar-based rock and blues and toward such exploratory tunes as the piano-backed "The Letting Go," the beat- and sample-driven "2001," and the uncommonly poppy "Dance Without Sleeping," Etheridge proves she's not a one-riff musician. Never Enough offers Etheridge's trademark soul-twisting rock in the form of "Ain't it Heavy" (which won the 1993 Grammy Award for the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance) and the angry, possessive of "It's for You." The provocative album cover features a topless Etheridge with her back to the viewer, a Danelectro guitar strapped to her back.

5 stars Many may not gree, but this is a fine album.
Here Melissa tried to do something a little different. Incorporating dance beats was a risky move from an emerging rocker, but somehow, in my opinion it worked. This is Melissa having fun and it really shows. You must be crazy for me and Meet me in The back are just total fun, but she wrote two of her most beautiful songs on this album as well; The Letting Go and Keep it Precious. A great album, largely dissed by the critics. What a shame, because it was only a glimpse of what was yet to come.

2 stars not her best
ouch... okay, first of all i have to state that in my opinion, melissa is THE greatest rock singer in recent history. there is no one with a more awesome voice and knack for lyrics. HOWEVER, "Never Enough" was THE worst cd she's ever released. i would have only given it 1 star but "Ain't it Heavy" deserved one all by itself. Don't get me wrong, Melissa's the greatest female rock singer since Janis Joplin and every home should own piles of her records but my advice would be to purchase a different one.
